Halloween Gloves – How to make candy filled handouts for trick-or-treaters

Halloween Gloves

Who doesn’t love handing out goodies to trick-or-treaters?! You get a chance to meet the neighborhood kids when they are at their cutest and most well behaved. And it’s the perfect time to offer up a bit of an unspoken bribe to the kiddos – I’ll keep supplying the best trick-or-treat goodies if you don’t annoy us too much 😉.

I used to go about this by offering up handfuls of snacks (go ahead, take a fist full of sugar – I don’t have to deal with you later). This year I have decided to be a bit more creative (and crafty) about my offerings by giving each trick-or-treater a Halloween Glove that is packed with differing kinds of goodies: treats, toys, and the combo. Read below to see how I made each glove and where to get the materials.

The total cost for all of my materials (to make all three types of gloves) was about $48 and I bought all but the candy on Amazon. If this seems like too much, there are cheaper options or you could opt for different goodies to put in your gloves, but below you will see what I thought was fun and festive.

The Treat Halloween Glove

This glove will have kids bragging about how they hit the candy jackpot! It’s really as simple as stuffing a glove with whatever candy you feel like dishing out this year. You will need at least one type of candy that is longer and slender to use for the fingers. I used Twix, but you could also use Tootsie Rolls, Smarties, or Sixlets

To assemble I used the following:

  • Clear Vinyl Gloves – I went with Large gloves so I could fit a good amount of candy in them.
  • Halloween ribbon – I just went with solid colors so I could use leftover ribbon for other crafts.
  • Bag(s) of candy – I just bought a few bags of my favorites (because Lord knows I snacked just a little while I was working), but you could also buy one of those variety bags.

The Non-Treat Halloween Glove

While most kids are able to enjoy Halloween with reckless abandon, it is important to also think of those kids with food allergies. For them I have put together a fun non-food glove that has all sorts of toys for anyone to enjoy. For these you can really put anything you want in them, but I tried to think of what a typical trick-or-treater aged kid might enjoy.

Again, you will want to make sure you get something that can fit inside the fingers of the gloves. I used crayons, a fake finger, bouncy ball, and stamp to fill the fingers of my gloves.

To assemble I used the following:

  • Clear Vinyl Gloves – I went with Large gloves so I could fit a good amount of candy in them.
  • Halloween ribbon – I just went with solid colors so I could use leftover ribbon for other crafts.
  • Crayons – I took out a few crayons for each glove, but you could also buy those small packs of crayons that are packaged together.
  • Play-Doh – Because, who doesn’t love play-doh!
  • Halloween Party Pack – I chose the linked pack because it looked like it had some fun stuff (spider rings, vampire teeth, bouncy balls, stamps, slinkys, and more. I did cheat a little and used some of the rings from this party pack on my candy gloves too…
  • Stickers – I chose a roll of stickers so I could tear a few off for each glove.

The Combo Halloween Glove

And for all those want monsters out there – I decided to also make a combo glove that includes the best from both gloves!
